UK–India Social Collaboration Strengthened: Project Salama, New Awakening Charitable Trust and Navi Mumbai Police Join Hands
Navi Mumbai | Reading, UK
In a significant step toward strengthening social cooperation between the United Kingdom and India, Sumanjit Kaur, Trustee of the UK-based social organisation Project Salama, and Jasmeet Kaur, Chairperson of the newly established New Awakening Charitable Trust (India), held a joint meeting with Police Inspector Vimal Bidve of Kamothe Police Station, Navi Mumbai Police.
The primary objective of the meeting was to explore the expansion of Project Salama’s work into India and to develop a transparent, ethical, and corruption-free support framework for individuals facing domestic violence, legal challenges, and social difficulties—particularly Indians residing in the UK and cases involving Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
Project Salama’s Chief Executive Officer, Jacqui Mukono, participated in the meeting via video conference. She holds a Master’s degree in Law and brings strong expertise in legal assistance, safeguarding, and justice advocacy.
The discussion between Sumanjit Kaur, Jasmeet Kaur, Police Inspector Vimal Bidve, and Jacqui Mukono was described as highly positive and forward-looking. Police Inspector Vimal Bidve assured full legal cooperation from Navi Mumbai Police, emphasising that all actions would be conducted strictly within the framework of law, transparency, and integrity, without any involvement of bribery or corruption.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was advised that the project proposal be formally presented to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Navi Mumbai, in order to explore broader implementation and institutional support for the initiative.
