Dilip Gode is known as an environmentalist, conservationists and development professional.He started as a bird watcher in his school days and involved in study of forest,wildlife and forest dwelling communities.He has been working in forest management and NRM based livelihoods through biodiversity conservation,studies and advocacy. Also involved in the implementation of Forest Rights Act by promoting Communiy Forest Rights in more than 150 villages in Gadchiroli, Gondia and Nagpur district.He has played a lead role in mobilising and supporting Gramsabha of 12 villages from Gondia and Gadchiroli District to collect and sale tendu leaves in 2013.That’s the first successful effort in India by a group of GramSabhas managing tendu leaves under CFR. Sold materials was transported on the Transit Pass issued by Gramsabha in the country. 
He is the Executive Director of Vidarbha Nature Conservation Society (VNCS) andformer Member of State Wildlife Board, Govt. of Maharashtra. He worked on many state and central government committees on environment,non conventional energy recourse, wildlife and forest management.Working with 100+ villages in tribals belt of eastern Vidarbha in Maharashtra state on Communiy Forest Management and MFP based livelihoods, governance and related advocacy. He is a founder member of networks , Vidarbha Livelihood Forum, FRA Collective- Maharshtra and CFRLA- India.
